The U.S. Constitution provides individuals accused of crimes certain rights, which they should not hesitate to exercise. Everyone makes mistakes or has serious lapses in judgment. Unfortunately, the mistakes and questionable decisions some people make could cost them their freedom, their finances and their futures. For instance, someone facing charges for assault is in jeopardy of losing whatever future they had in mind before the incident.

For instance, a 43-year-old Manchester man is facing charges including assault, stalking, vehicle theft and more. The charges would stem from an incident that took place on the night of Oct. 13. The man in question is accused of being involved in a domestic violence episode. He allegedly pushed his way into a woman’s car, shoved her into the passenger seat and took off behind the wheel of the car.

At another location, he held the woman after both of them got out of the vehicle. Someone in the neighborhood called the police after firing a warning shot. As police arrived, the man got into the vehicle and left the scene. He was arrested the next day. Police say he resisted arrest and even kicked a police dog.

As would be the case for anyone in Manchester accused of assault or any other offense, this man’s freedom and future are in serious jeopardy. It would be a good idea to exercise his right to an attorney as soon as possible in order to ensure his right are protected. A thorough review of the situation could reveal legal options that would present the best possible outcome under the circumstances.
