Personal Injury, Accidents or Work Injury

If you are injured through no fault of your own but by someone else’s negligence, New Hampshire law entitles you to recover various types of damages:

Pain and Suffering:

Ordinarily, the most “valuable” element of your bodily injury claim is the right to compensation for physical pain and mental anguish you have suffered and will endure in the future because of your injury.  These general damages are in addition to, and may be far more, than the amount of your lost earnings and medical expenses.

Medical Expenses:

The cost of all reasonable and necessary medical expenses incurred and that are reasonably certain to be incurred in the future because of your injury, are recoverable.

Permanent Impairment:

If you have permanent injuries, you are entitled to compensation for the loss of bodily functions, permanent physical disabilities, and loss of enjoyment of life that you would likely have had if the accident hadn’t happened.

Loss of Earnings:

Wages, commissions, bonuses and all other earnings and fringe benefits you lost because of your injuries are recoverable.

Future Loss of Earnings:

If your injuries permanently limit your earning ability, you may be entitled to  recover the value of the reduction in earning capacity.

Death:

Damages for “wrongful death” are available for certain family members of the deceased person.

Disfigurement:

If the injury has caused scarring or other unsightly marks, you may be entitled to recover for the disfigurement and humiliation or embarrassment associated with the disfigurement.

Damage to Your Vehicle or Other Personal Property:

You are entitled to recover the reasonable cost of restoring your vehicle to its condition before the collision, or if it is a “total loss” you are entitled to recover the full value of your vehicle before it was damaged.   In addition you may recover the cost of substitute transportation necessarily incurred while they are repairing your vehicle.

WARNING:

DON’T DO ANYTHING UNTIL YOU SPEAK TO A LAWYER.

Handling an injury claim takes experience…what to say, what not to say; what to sign, if anything; when to attempt to settle; how much your claim is worth, are some of the things that a skilled and experienced professional can evaluate.  Our legal system allows you to recover full and fair money compensation for your injuries.   Yet, each year many people recover far less compensation than they’re entitled to receive.   Please don’t let this happen to you!  Protect yourself by speaking to an attorney!  There are rigid time deadlines which exist, in which to make a claim for different types of injuries.  The failure to act timely could become a barrier to your right to recover!

(Warning:  Changes in the law concerning damages occur occasionally.   You should consult with an Attorney with respect to these changes.)
